Maine Learning Results/Curriculum Integration Project (MLR/CIP)

The MLR/CIP is a partnership of the Maine Association of Vocational Education Administrators (MAVEA) and the Maine Department of Education.

MLR/CIP Goals:

  1. Ensure students across the state receive consistent preparation in core skills.
  2. Demonstrate the linkage between secondary vocational programs and the Maine Learning Results (MLR).
  3. Articulate secondary vocational programs to sending schools and post-secondary programs, thereby providing a smooth transition for students from secondary to post secondary education.

The three major (concurrent) components of the MLR/CIP project are:

Phase 1: Develop Statewide Technology Standards for the programs taught at Maine's secondary vocational/technical centers and regions, and identify the MLR that align with these programs. Standards include a duty/task list outlining what students should know and be able to do based on research of national standards and/or industry certification requirements. Links to the Maine Learning Results are identified in the standards.

Phase 2: Provide ongoing Professional Development in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment strategies, with the focus on improving student learning and achievement. This is being done through the development of a statewide system of School-Based Learning Teams (SBLT).

Phase 3: The Student Information System for Maine (SISME) Database provides:

  • An electronic platform for organizing and presenting program competencies such as those in the statewide technology standards.
  • A method for recording and reporting student performance on program competencies and the associated MLR.
  • A means to establish and report links between program competencies and the MLR.
